Yes, we are doing barn swallows again this year. The light fixture in the carport, seems to be theirs. Last year after they left, disconnected the electricity to it, and it is now theirs. This year I’m going to leave the nest, that they work so hard to build. While they make a fair mess, I feel kind of kin to them. They seem to trust me, and when the cat shows up, they have their way of telling me, and I understand. I sit out there a lot of time, just watching them work their asses off, and oops, talking to them. Such dedicating they put in, to raising there family of four. I don’t think there’s a lot of difference, between all living things. Just look different. I like the cat too, but he’s got to be lay ed off, during swallow season. MY VIEW.

Nineteen years ago we moved from Anchorage the ninety miles out here to this place in the valley. There was a family of violet-green swallows nesting inside a knot-hole in the soffit under the eaves of our old trailer. The parents flew most of the way alongside the caravan, and every year since then the arrival of the swallows marks the beginning of summer for us.
There is no end to your talents Bird Watching now. I hope the babies survive Cheers Portia
